On Female Economic Empowerment

In this short essay, which was produced for Heinrich Boll Foundation in Georgia, I criticise the approach donors and the Georgian government have taken towards female economic empowerment. I argue that too much focus on “increasing employability” and “entrepreneurship” without restructuring the economy is not effective and merely serves to reproduce precarious jobs which keep women alive, but not economically empowered.
